Bay ( _so. Baay) is an administrative region ("gobolka") in southern
Somalia . Its capital isBaidoa . It is bordered by the Somali regions ofBakool , Lower Shabele, Middle Juba, andGedo . The Bay region is one of the most populated regions of Somalia and consists of the following districts:
*Baidoa (its capital)

*Qansaxdheere
*Berdaale Baidoa used to be the capital of the old Upper Juba region, which today consists of Bay,
Gedo ,Bakool and most parts of Middle Juba (Jubbada Dhexe ). Present regions were created in the 1970's by the then military regime.Clans

Languages
The majority of the regions population speak the
Af-Maay dialect of theSomali language . Also spoken in the region are the Af-Dabarre and Af-Garre dialects as well as standard Somali.
