Troy Oliver presided over some of the most successful pop recordings of the late '90s and early 2000s. He wrote and produced "Jenny from the Block" and “I’m Real withJennifer Lopez , as well as “Differences” withGinuwine . Troy has also worked with artists such asMandy Moore ,Blu Cantrell ,Faith Evans ,Jessica Simpson ,Ruff Endz , 7 Mile,Hall & Oates andLenny Kravitz , among countless others. He has achieved solid acceptance by the music industry as a songwriter and producer, including being the ASCAP choice for Songwriter of the Year for two consecutive years.Born in New Haven, Connecticut, later relocating to the suburbs of West Haven, CT, Troy was born into a musically talented family. As a youth, he was able to develop his musical ability at his grandfather’s church, where his grandfather, father, aunts and a host of other family members served in the music ministry. Troy was introduced to his first musical instrument, the drums, at the tender age of 2. Before long he had mastered rhythmic patterns and decided to branch out to other instruments. At age 6, Troy picked up the bass and not to long after he transitioned over to the guitar. Already having 3 instruments in his repertoire, Troy began playing the keyboard at age 11. It was love at first stroke and he knew that this was the instrument that would change his life. The keyboard allowed him to develop his ability to compose and create original pieces. He began writing songs and effortlessly perfected his songwriting skills. Troy was no stranger to capturing any crowd and his decision to pursue a career as a producer/songwriter was without question. He had his first studio session at the age of 16. Troy’s talent was undeniable and he quickly gained a name for himself in the music industry.
Troy’s career was well placed as he ignited the music industry as a seasoned musician, songwriter and producer. In the late nineties, Troy started his production company Chocolate Factory Inc. and was soon caught the attention of super producer/songwrier and Sony Music executive,
Cory Rooney . They collaborated to record Troy’s first major hit “Do Your Thing”, with sensational R&B group, 7 Mile. Over the next six years, Troy and Cory created a plethora of Billboard chart toppers with the music industries hottest talent, including two worldwide #1 hits with superstar Jennifer Lopez. Oliver co-wrote, arranged and produced 8 songs on Jennifer Lopez’s multi-platinum recordings “J. Lo” and “This is Me Then”. After a brief hiatus from the music industry, Troy returned to the studio with a renewed passion for music.
