__NOTOC__Bullocks to Stan is an episode of the animated television show "American Dad!".

Episode summary

At the CIA fair, Hayley gets into an argument with Director Avery Bullock. Stan believes that this will destroy his chance for a promotion. The next morning, Stan arrives at Bullock's house after running some errands for him, but discovers that Bullock slept with Hayley. Stan is against it at first; however, Bullock says that he can get the promotion he wanted. Francine is against the relationship and Stan tries to make a man out of Hayley's ex-boyfriend Jeff (whom Hayley broke-up with because he agrees on everything). Jeff and Hayley get back together, and Hayley breaks-up with Bullock. Bullock then tells Stan to kill Jeff, and when they go to the woods to do it, Jeff gets away with Stan's SUV. At a diner, Bullock calls Hayley a slut, which offends Stan, and the two CIA men get into a lengthy fist-fight (with some audio-commentary from Klaus). Stan eventually gets the upper hand and is about to land a killing blow, but Bullock then claims that this was all a test to see if Stan would stand up for his nation and family (though this was most likely made up on the spot by Bullock to save himself), stating he will give him the promotion.

Meanwhile, Steve finds Dick Cheney's BlackBerry, which contains information on the secret White House bunker, Halliburton bunker and Satan (as well as phone numbers to various politicians such as Tony Blair). Steve and Roger begin making prank calls to the world leaders, but then they all *69 the two.

Cultural references

* One of the stalls at the CIA fair holds the game "WMD Hunt". This is a reference to the hunt for WMDs in Iraq, a main justification for the 2003 Invasion of Iraq. No contestant is able to find a WMD.
* Dick's quote "I got the stapler!" is a subtle joke: Dick is voiced by actor Stephen Root, who played Milton in the movie "Office Space", a character who is obsessed about his missing stapler.
* When Stan, Francine, and Roger are folding napkins into swans Roger makes a man and explains that it is "Metrosexual soccer icon David Beckham; I can't do swans - I don't know why".
* Stan refers to Hayley as "Squeaky Fromme". This is a reference to Lynette Fromme, former member of the Charles Manson "family" who attempted to assassinate President Gerald Ford in September 1975.
* The scene where Stan is trying to make Jeff more assertive by telling him a banana is an apple is a reference to the "Red Dwarf" episode "Camille", when Lister tries to teach Kryten to lie. It is also reminiscent of the famous 2+2 = 5 torture scene in George Orwell's Nineteen Eighty-Four, and the Cardassian torture scene from "".
* The scene where Stan and Bullock are trying to hunt Jeff is a reference to the story "The Most Dangerous Game".
* The name and logo of the TV network where Bullock is about to announce Stan's promotion is C-Spin, a spoof off of the real network C-Span, including a portmanteau with spin.
* The lyrics sung by Bullock ("I love little girls...") and Hayley's ringtone when she calls Bullock are from the Oingo Boingo song "Little Girls."
* Stan asks Jeff if they are familiar with a TV show "Fear Factor", and asks him to take a ride with Joe Rogan.
* At the cleaners, Stan is seen murmuring the song "Africa" by 1980s stadium rockers Toto, changing the famous "I bless the rains down in Africa" line to "I crash the planes down in Africa."
* When Jeff offers to perform "a blistering flute solo", this is a reference to hard rock band Jethro Tull, whose lead singer, Ian Anderson is known for playing a flute.
* The song Roger is listening to when Steve arrives is "Sous le ciel de Paris", sung by Edith Piaf.
* When Stan has his dream about killing Bullock, the killing of the passer-by is parodying "Fargo", or possibly "Mulholland Drive".
* The song at the end of the episode is Don't Dream It's Over by Crowded House.

Notes

*When Stan and Bullock were fighting, Klaus speaks over Stan and Bullock's very short dialogue. Klaus says: "Oh, we just missed the funniest joke of the episode." According to the commentary of the episode, Stan and Bullock said this::Stan: Kirk was a much better captain!:Bullock: What?:Stan: Nothing! This is a blow to Patrick Stewart's character of Captain Jean-Luc Picard; Bullock is voiced by Patrick Stewart. However, Seth MacFarlane and crew believe Picard was a far better captain of the starship Enterprise.
*The messages on the scrolling marquee at the bottom of the screen on "C-Spin" read: :"CIA Deputy Director Bullock to Nominate New Deputy-Deputy Director":"Bullock Receives Phone Call From 18 Year-Old Girlfriend, Waves to Her" :"Bullock Gets Dumped by Girlfriend Who's Going Back to Her Ex-Boyfriend Jeff Because He's Totally Changed":"Bullock Breaks Down Like the Little Girl He Fancies."
*The intro was shortened for time reasons on FOX and Cartoon Network.
*When Klaus commented on Jimmy Ng, he may be referring to a police officer in Vancouver who died in a car accident. Jimmy was said to be a friend of one of the animators of American Dad.
*Although Francine is usually liberal and always supports Hayley, this episode she is against her relationship with Bullock only because of their age disparity.
