Jiangsu Jiangyan Zhongxue (Chinese: 江苏省姜堰中学), also called Jiangyan High or Jiangzhong for abbreviation, is a high school famous for its elite education systems. It is located at Jiangyan City, Taizhou Prefecture, Jiangsu, where Chinese president Hu Jintao was born and raised.

History

Founded by Gao Hama in 1939, Jiangyan Zhongxue was named "Talented School" (重点中学) in 1980 by the government of Jiangsu province. It was designated "Provincial Run School" (省立中学) in 1996, and it passed the "National Model School Qualification" (国家级示范性高中验收) in 1999. It has over 30 Senior Teachers, Well known Presidents, Famous Teachers, and Disciplines Frontiers. The facilities in the school is state-of-art, top-notch, and atop among schools in Jiangsu province.

Since the Chinese Economic Reforms, Jiangyan Zhongxue has been famous for its remarkable education system, attracting many young students even beyond Jiangsu province. In recent years, it has pegged the idea of "making sound educational foundation for the whole lives of students" and performed far-reaching reforms of teaching system, boosted the moral education, and centered in humankind managements. A Jiangzhong phenomena has been formed. Many students have achieved good scores in the national college entrance exam. The Jianyan Computer Science Olympia team topped number one in the Jiangsu tournament. More than 30 students have won provincial or above awards. The secretary general of the school was awarded the "National Advanced Party Branch" (全国先进基层党组织).

However since 2000, it has suffered a loss of many talented teachers to other schools, such as Lu Shunkou who went to Nanjing.

Location

At the confluence of the Yangtze River and the Jinghang Canal (Grand Canal of China), in the mid south of Jiangsu province, the north bank of lower reaches of the Yangtze river, the south end of Jianghuai Plain.

Campus

Jiangyan Zhongxue has a beautiful rural scenic campus with many toads wandering around campus. With renovated "4th May Hall" and the new built sport stadium, it is one of the most beautiful schools in Jiangsu. The two pine trees in front of "4th May Hall" worth 1 million yuan and are truly beautiful. Enjoying the mild weather of its location, many grasses thrive in the track and field.

Awards

Having a favorable geographical location, rich resources, and solid economic foundation, Taizhou was approved by the State's Council to be an open coastal city. During the past 20 years, the economic growth has remained at the average speed of over 10%. It is one of the central cities inside the Yangtse.
