- Abercregan
Abercregan is a village in the Welsh
county borough ofNeath Port Talbot ,Glamorgan . Abercregan was once a thriving mining community but since the decline of the British coal industry, much of the housing has been demolished and most of its inhabitants moved to neighbouring villages. Now a small village of around 30 houses, Abercregan is in surroundings which have returned to their former pre-industrial rural condition. Abercregan is within the boundaries of the Afan Forest Park which is a joint venture between Forest Enterprise, the Local Authority and local businesses which promote and provide provisions for green tourism in the area. The local authority decided to move the Field Study Centre in Abercregan to Margam Park and demolish the building which once housed the village school.Abercregan-Refresh F.C.

Abercregan-Refresh are currently playing in the Port Talbot Football League Division 1. They play their home games at The Red Field, Cymmer.History
The Abercregan-Refresh Football Club was founded in 2005. The Refreshment Rooms & Abercregan United AFC as they were known before 2005, was founded in the early 1990s. Given the
Afan Valley s history at the two clubs, there is a large following from fans young and old. They have been less successful in recent years but have improved in the last few seasons. In 2003, The Refreshment Rooms & Abercregan United AFC had to bring their sides out of the Premier League as there had been much less interest. In 2005, the two teams joined as one but still no interest turned up. In 2007, Nigel Casey, and wife, Mrs. Yvonne Casey brought the two sides together again, bringing back the old Abercregan United colours of Red & Black. They finished 4th in Division 1 with a large following. Croeserw United took over the team in 2008 which forced many of the players to leave. Abercregan Refresh secured the signature of seven players from
Croeserw . They are now aiming for promotion and cup glory.Rivalry
Abercregan-Refresh has a rivalry with all four of its neighbours: Croeserw United, Gwynfi United, and Glyncorrwg Hall. Abercregan-Refresh is the lowest ranked team in the Afan Valley but are set to put all doubters to rest and try and climb the leagues.
