Kenn Rowell (born 1971) is the front man for the veteran indie rock band
The Baghdaddios . Born in Nyack, NY he moved the band's base of operation toNew York City in2000 and continues to release albums with his group. He has collaborated with seminal indie groupThe Bongos ' former front man,Richard Barone , former EMI alumnusPatti Rothberg and shared stage time with such diverse talents such as steel-guitar legend Buddy Cage,Hanoi Rocks andNew York Dolls ' bassistSami Yaffa and speed-metal godsFates Warning .Rowell writes most of The Baghdaddios' songs, sings lead and plays rhythm guitar. He is credited for co-production on each of the band's releases.
Starting in
1997 Rowell founded theBlank-Fest benefit concerts, which raises blankets for NYC's homeless with an annual show, held in his native Nyack within the first two weeks of December, serving as the concert's main organizer and MC. Each year, on Christmas Eve he and other concert volunteers distribute the blankets raised at the concert, directly to the City's less fortunate.In 2006, Rowell hired alternative video- and media director Kroy Aziani to direct and produce the music video for The Baghdaddio's song [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iSAkVHymKU4 "Gutwrench"] .
In 2007, Rowell asked
YouTube user Frozensquirrel to create a music video for The Baghdaddio's song "Point Of Collapse", which can be viewed [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_MWpEuEXarc here] .In 2008 Rowell began work on a solo album, tentatively titled "Instant Solo Album", scheduled for release in early 2009. Film director Art Leal produced the music video for [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgXGPKu5_-s "How Low"] off the upcoming album, and has announced his intention of producing additional videos in the coming months.
