Mandy Haberman

Mandy Nicola Haberman is an English inventor and entrepreneur. She is a visiting Fellow at Bournemouth University, from where she has an honorary doctorate.

Inventions

Haberman's daughter was born in 1980 with Stickler syndrome, a congenital abnormality that included a cleft palate.

Out of necessity, she invented the Haberman Feeder special bottle for infants with sucking difficulties, now used in hospitals throughout the world. Her second invention, the Anywayup Cup, is available on the commercial market, selling 10 million cups per year. The Anywayup Cup has received numerous awards for both innovation and design.^[1]

Patents

Haberman has become a campaigner for improvement in the patent system. She has been appointed to various committees by Chartered Institute of Patent Attorneys and the Patent Office, including the Intellectual Property Advisory Committee (IPAC), tasked with providing strategic advice to the British Government, to the Advisory Council for the European Commission's research programme, (PRISM) and to the Advisory Committee of Simfonec Science and Enterprise Centre (Cass Business School). Haberman is on the editorial board of Patent World, Informa Law and is a Fellow of the Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts.

Awards

Haberman was the Female Inventor of the Year 2000.^[2] She was a finalist in the Veuve Clicquot Business Woman of the Year Awards for 2003, and recognised by HM Queen Elizabeth as a Pioneer to the Life of the Nation.^{[citation needed]}
