(1970)"Phallus Dei" was the first album by German band
Amon Düül II . The title translates into English as "God's Penis". The album was the result of theAmon Düül commune inMunich splitting, perhaps due to some members of the original Amon Düül's musical ineptitude. The album is a cornerstone of German psychedelic music because of its layered guitars, abstract percussion, and chant-like vocals. It is heavily cited (alongside Can's "Monster Movie") as the originalKrautrock album. It was reissued in 2001, digitally remastered, and contained five extra tracks: "Freak Out Requiem (I-IV)" and "Cymbals in the End".
The 2006 remastered reissue on the German label, Revisited Records, contains two bonus tracks, TouchMaPhal (10:17) and I Want The Sun to Shine (10:32). It does not contain the bonus material from the 2001 reissue.
