Cortébert is a municipality in the Jura bernois administrative district in the canton of Bern in Switzerland. It is located in the French-speaking Bernese Jura (Jura Bernois). It has a population (as of 31 December 2010) of 703.^[1]

Geography

Cortébert has an area, as of 2009^[update], of 14.78 km² (5.71 sq mi). Of this area, 7.28 km² (2.81 sq mi) or 49.3% is used for agricultural purposes, while 7.05 km² (2.72 sq mi) or 47.7% is forested. Of the rest of the land, 0.47 km² (0.18 sq mi) or 3.2% is settled (buildings or roads) and 0.02 km² (4.9 acres) or 0.1% is unproductive land.^[2]

Of the built up area, housing and buildings made up 1.4% and transportation infrastructure made up 1.4%. 42.2% of the total land area is heavily forested and 5.5% is covered with orchards or small clusters of trees. Of the agricultural land, 13.3% is used for growing crops and 9.1% is pastures and 26.8% is used for alpine pastures.^[2]
