Tilly, Arkansas is located in Northeastern
Pope County, Arkansas , near the head of the Middle Fork of theLittle Red River . It is also near the intersection of Arkansas 16 and Arkansas 27. The town has a one baptist church, the Tilly Baptist Church, which resides next to U.S. Highway 27. There is also a local general store. The store has a gas pump, capable of pumping to two cars at once. The store also has a the local post office branch inside it. There is a good sized cemetery called Union Hill and the Union Hill church house located down a dirt road off the highway.Tilly, Arkansas is home of Papa and Nana. They built their own house and have resided there for many years. They usually make a garden during the spring.
The community of Tilly, AR is located in Northeastern Pope County, AR near the intersection of AR 27 & AR 16 highways. Tilly has a general store that was established in 1939 by Alfred & Avis Fountain. The store has a local post office branch located within. The cemetery located in Tilly is the “Union Hill Cemetery” and has a cemetery building adjacent to the cemetery. “The Tilly Miss Baptist Church” and “the Tilly Pentecostal Church” are both located in Tilly. There is also a community building called simply “Union Hill”. In the past, this building was used for a one room school. It also served as a building for many to hold church services within. Currently, the building is unoccupied and is used occasionally by those from the community.
Many people in the community have gardens. They also preserve vegetables from those gardens by the home canning process and/or storing in freezer.
The occupants in the community receive “city” water from the Greers Ferry Lake at Heber Springs, AR via the Van Buren County Water Association. This is not welcome by most all in the community because of many problems with the water.
