Jon Whitney

Jon Whitney (born 1972) is a web developer from Amherst, MA who founded and created Brainwashed (website), an online eclectic music publication. He currently lives in Arlington, MA.

Musical Background

At the age of 4, he bought his first vinyls. By the time he was 13, he had his own radio show on UMass Amherst's radio station, WMUA. He worked at a record store when he was 15, interned for Virgin and Caroline and worked for Capitol and Sony in NY and Boston while in his late teens/early twenties. He founded Brainwashed in 1996. He has been creating (inerviewing/taping/editing) short mini-documentaries of bands for [http://brainwashed.com/eye/ The Eye] since 2003.

He has been a DJ at Boston College's radio station, WZBC, since 1995, tour managed Fridge on their first North American tour, helped book some The Dresden Dolls shows in the time before their debut album, launched a weekly "Brainwashed Radio Podcast" in late 2004, and curated and organized the [http://brain-waves.org Brainwaves Festival] in 2006, to celebrate ten years of Brainwashed.

Whitney currently VJs a music video night around in and around the Boston area, [http://thesoundyoureyescanfollow.com The Sound Your Eyes Can Follow] , plays in the band Blood Money, operates the record label Killer Pimp (a small division of Brainwashed), and continues to host the Brainwashed Podcast.
