imdb_id ="Australia's Naughtiest Home Videos" was an
Australia ntelevision comedy program which gained notoriety when it was canceled "during" its original broadcast onSeptember 4 ,1992 . The show was planned as aspin-off of "Australia's Funniest Home Video Show ". Hosted byDoug Mulray , "Australia's Naughtiest Home Videos" depicted videos of sexual situations and other sexually explicit content. After being informed by friends at a dinner,
Kerry Packer , owner of the broadcasterNine Network tuned in to watch the show onTCN -9 and was so offended by its content that he phoned the studio operators and ordered them to "Get that shit off the air!" The operators complied and the show immediately pulled the plug and went to a black screen saying the network was experiencing "technical difficulties". The same happened in Brisbane, with the exception that it was succeeded by "three" episodes of "Cheers". Mulray was immediately fired and banned for life from the network. After the broadcast, Nine reportedly received "thousands" of phone calls from viewers, with between 50 and 80 percent of callers upset with the program being pulled. Due to other programming obligations, some states aired the show earlier, and thus received the entire show.fact|date=August 2008 Due to the time difference, the show never aired in Perth. In most states, however, the last clip reported seen on the show before it got pulled was of a child reaching for a kangaroo's genitals. A video was later released over
peer-to-peer services of these 24 minutes, reportedly from an old VHS recording made when the show aired. However, the only footage seen is of Mulray's monologues and various animals having intercourse. In
2008 , a full copy of the show was located by Nine's head of factual television. Current Head of Programming Michael Healy, whom as a presentation manager Packer had phoned during the initial broadcast of the show, decided to rebroadcast the show in a shorter, "repackaged" format onAugust 28 2008 at 8:30 p.m. The show was promoted as "the show Kerry Packer didn't want you to see" and was presented byBert Newton . Packer died in2005 .
