"Everybody Got Their Something" is Nikka Costa's first album on Virgin Records, released on May 22, 2001. Although she has released numerous albums internationally since childhood, this is her first release in the United States. During this period, "Heaven Sinner" appeared on the "Like a Feather" single, and "Call Me," a Blondie cover, was released on the "Zoolander" soundtrack. Demos of outtakes such as "La La La," "Stranger's Way," and "What Goes Around Comes Around" later surfaced.

The title track of "Everybody Got Their Something" proved to be Nikka's biggest hit. The song was incredibly well received by radio and video outlets, and was used for multiple advertising campaigns. It was used in the pilot of the television series Arrested Development and is currently being used in promos for ABC Daytime. The song "Push & Pull" was featured in the film "Blow" starring Johnny Depp, and the video was on the DVD release of the same film. Prince covered "Push & Pull" on his direct to DVD concert "Live at the Aladdin Las Vegas" with the help of Nikka.Also the track So Have I For You was featured on a scene from Britney Spears' movie Crossroads in 2001.
