The Milwaukee Ballet is a professional ballet company located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, United States. It was founded in 1969 by Roberta Boorse and held its first performance on April 24, 1970. It is currently ranked among the top twelve ballet companies in the United States.[citation needed] Michael Pink is the current artistic director, and Dennis Buehler is the current Executive Director.

The company's first performance took place at the School of Fine Arts at the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee. Less than a year later the company began performing in Uihlein Hall at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, where it still performs today.

In the mid-1970s the Milwaukee Ballet opened the Milwaukee Ballet School, the official school of the company. It is currently ranked among the top five ballet schools in the nation.[citation needed]

The company gives approximately 45 performances each year, and has an annual attendance of over 70,000 people. They have performed The Nutcracker annually since 1977.

The Milwaukee Ballet attempts to commission at least one world premiere each year.
