Perth Central Area Transit
- Perth Central Area Transit
The Perth Central Area Transit System (Perth CAT), or simply CAT, is a set of three bus routes in the centre of Perth, a bus route in Fremantle, and 4 bus routes in Joondalup. Also included is the Rockingham City Centre Transit System. Unlike all other Transperth services, all CAT routes are zero-fare.
Bus fleets
The current Perth CAT bus fleet consists of 23 Volgren bodied Mercedes-Benz O 500LE units that are fuelled by compressed natural gas. In addition to the designated fleet, several "silver-and-green" buses of the same type are used as spares.
The Fremantle CAT fleet consists of 3 Mercedes-Benz O405NH units and the Joondalup CAT fleet consists of 2 Dennis Dart SLF units.
The current fleet of natural gas-powered buses was progressively introduced from August 20, 2005, and replaced sixteen Scania-DAB MidCity Series II 0860S.
The CAT buses were replaced by the original City Clipper which ran through the original sections of Perth.

There are three CAT routes: the Yellow CAT, the Red CAT and the Blue CAT, which replaced the City Clipper bus services on 23 September 1996; these CAT services are operated by Southern Coast Transit.
