- All Party Alliance
The All Party Alliance was a
political party in theUnited Kingdom . It was founded in January1966 [Man of Mystery, Ian Millsted, Journal of Liberal History, Issue 57, Winter 2007-08] by the well knownwriter John Creasey . Its the main policies were anational government by the best members of each party, and the running of industry by councils includingworker s,manager s,investor s and thegovernment as a means to avoidindustrial action . He saw this as a path to prosperity and the eventual elimination ofincome tax .The organisation was relaunched in
1972 as Evolution to Democracy (Evo), which was also the name of Creasey's book setting out his ideas for All-Party Alliance and Alliance in Industry. In
1973 , withJohn Creasey seriously ill, Evo merged with another small independent party based in Yorkshire. The reconstituted party was named the Independent Democratic Alliance. Following Creasey's death later that year, IDA became preoccipied with the anti-Common Market tradition rather than the original ideals of Creasey. IDA stood candidates in the February 1974 general election - but not with conspicuous success. The party faded away thereafter.----References
