Stokke is a municipality in the county of Vestfold,
Norway . Stokke is also the name of the municipality's administrative centre.Stokke was established as a municipality

The municipality (originally the parish) is named after the old farm Stokke (Norse "Stokkar"), since the first church was built here. The name is the plural form of "stokkr" m 'log'. (This is probably referring to some small hills/ridges near the churchsite.)
