"The Quiet Earth" is a 1981 science fiction novel (ISBN 0-340-26507-8) by New Zealand writer Craig Harrison.

The novel was adapted into a 1985 New Zealand science fiction film of the same name directed by Geoff Murphy.

Plot

Zac Hobson, a scientist wakes up one morning to find out that apparently he is the last person left on the planet Earth. He and his fellow scientists have been working on a project to harness interspatial energy, and this seems to be the result.
