February 20 ,1960 inRichmond, London , UK) is a professionalpoker player of mixed English/French descent. Arama is known for his large range ofsunglasses (over 300 pairs) and aggressive playing style which is referred to by poker commentators as "Jac Attack".Poker career
His first major tournament victory was at the Master Classics of Poker 2000 event in
Amsterdam , where he scooped the $63,471 first prize. This led to several appearances on theLate Night Poker television show. In his first appearance he finished fourth, outlasting bothDave Welch andJoe Beevers . On his second attempt he finished third, outlastingJohn Duthie , but unable to overcomeRam Vaswani .He eventually won a Late Night Poker tournament on his third attempt, defeating Gary Jones in the heads-up confrontation. He went on to finish fourth at the season 5 Grand Final, behind
Padraig Parkinson ,Korosh Nejad and Beevers. The following year he finished second in his heat toLucy Rokach .Arama had two money finishes at the
2002 World Series of Poker (WSOP), including a final table appearance in the $1,500 Triple Draw Lowball Ace to Five event, where he finished just behindJohn Juanda and Paul Phillips.In 2003 he beat a final table including
Surinder Sunar to earn a £74,200 first prize in the £1,000 British Open event.In 2005 he almost won a bracelet at Binions in
Tunica after abad beat head to head, when he moved all in with pocket 7's and was called by his opponent with A3 with exactly equal chips. The flop came KJ4 and it was looking good for Arama, but a 2 on the turn and a 5 on the river gave his opponent a wheel. Business was done before the flop, but he received $90,000 for his efforts.Arama also reached the grand final of the 2005
World Speed Poker Open .Arama finished in 271st place at the
2007 World Series of Poker main event, cashing for $45,422.As of 2008, his total tournament winnings exceed $680,000.
Private life
Arama is married, and has 6 children the last of which was born in June 2004. Outside of the poker world, Jac runs a travel company.
