Richard Leonard Johnson (born December 29 1974 in Chertsey, Surrey) was an English cricketer, who played county cricket first for Middlesex County Cricket Club (1994-2000) and 2007 and then for Somerset County Cricket Club (2001-2006). He was a lower order batsman and bowled right-arm medium pace.

England

Richard Johnson had a whirlwind start to an impressive looking career in Test cricket, when he made his debut England against Zimbabwe at Chester-le-Street on June 5 2003. He scored 24 on debut, and took 6/33 and 0/67.

However he was injury prone and when fit found that other bowlers had overtaken him in the pecking order and he failed to sustain an international career.

He announced his retirement from first-class cricket in October 2007, aged 32.

His cricketing career started by playing club cricket for Sunbury Cricket Club, and quickly made an impression within the colts set-up.
