Riddick Website www.tiffanymonique.com Tiffany Moníque Riddick (born May 11, 1979), known professional as Tiffany Moníque, is an American singer, songwriter, producer and professional background singer, best known as a member of Beyoncé's background vocal trio, The Mamas.[1] Tiffany released her debut EP, Nemesis, in June 2010 [2] and her debut video for the title track in July 2010.[3]
Early life
She was born Tiffany Moníque Marshall in Nashville, Tennessee, the only daughter to Martha Ann Marshall (née Johnson) and Jerry Lee Marshall. She relocated to Newark, New Jersey is the early 1980s with her mother and attended Blessed Sacrament School in Newark, and Immaculate Conception High School in Montclair, New Jersey.[4] Tiffany attended Morgan State University[5] in Baltimore, Maryland after receiving a full scholarship from its Music Department led by the late Dr. Nathan Carter. Tiffany’s involvement with the choir led to the opportunity to travel around the world as a member and soloist. One notable performance included performing a solo during Pope John Paul II’s visit to the United States in 1996.[6] In 2002, Tiffany transferred to William Paterson University[7] in Wayne, NJ and obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communications/Journalism.
Career
While attending Morgan State University, Tiffany joined a local girl group called On Point. That same year, the group was featured with MCA recording artists K-Ci & Jo-Jo on the remix version of “Fee Fie Foe Fum” [8] from their 1999 album release It’s Real. Offered a recording contract with MCA Records shortly after their development, the deal fell through due to internal management conflicts. Afterward, the group disbanded and went their separate ways.
Following her departure from Morgan State University, Tiffany began attending open mic nights at the Village Underground[9] in Greenwich Village (New York City). She met singer Melonie Daniels – a background singer for Mariah Carey. One day, Daniels asked Tiffany if she wanted to perform with the superstar on a BET Christmas special. Tiffany accepted and began her career as a professional background vocalist. She has worked with recording artists including Kenny Loggins, Christina Aguilera, Yolanda Adams, Donnie McClurkin, Faith Evans, Regina Belle, Michelle Williams, Carl Thomas, Avant, Jill Scott, Ledisi, Mary J. Blige, Mary Mary, Marsha Ambrosius, Kelly Price, Melonie Fiona, Estelle, Shirley Ceasar, and Elle Varner.
