High School Career
Benson lettered four years at Princess Anne High School where she helped lead the team to the 2005 Virginia AAA state title. She was honored as a first-team All-Tidewater selection and was named the Beach District Defensive Player of the Year after both her junior and senior seasons. Benson also excelled at track & field at Princess Anne where she was the district high jump champion and finished third in the district in the 200 meters during her junior year.[2]
College career
Benson posted more than 1,000 points and 1,000 rebound during her standout career at Division I William & Mary College, a member of the Colonial Athletic Association (CAA). Benson led the CAA in Offensive Rebounding for three years and is currently the CAA's All-Time Leader in blocked shots with 239. As a senior she garnered 1st team ALL-CAA Defensive team and 2nd team All-CAA accolades. In 2009, Benson was named the CAA Defensive Player of the Year and received Second Team ALL-CAA honors. In 2008, she was named to the ALL-CAA Defensive Team and in 2007 was a member of the ALL-CAA Rookie team.[3]
International career
Benson signed a contract to play for Limoges ABC in France's Ligue Féminine de Basket (LFB), beginning in the fall of 2010. Limoges recently won promotion from France's second-division (Nationale Féminine 1, NF1), and played in the LFB in 2009-10.[4]
