- Saqr bin Zayed Al Nahyan
-
Sheikh Saqr Bin Zayed Al Nahyan was the third ruler of Abu Dhabi. He was the brother of Sultan bin Zayed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan (who ruled Abu Dhabi from 1922 to 1926), whom he shot and killed to avenge the death of their older brother Sheikh Hamdan, and in 1926 he became ruler himself.[1][2] He was uncle to Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Shakhbut bin Sultan Al Nahyan, his successor. An assassination attempt by members of the Al-Bu Shaar section of the Manasir on New Years Day 1928 failed but he was later caught up with and assassinated.[1]
