The area was traditionally part of Lower Carniola. It is now included in the Spodnjeposavska statistical region.[2]
The local church is dedicated to the Mary Magdalene and belongs to the Kostanjevica na Krki parish. It is a 17th century Baroque building extensively rebuilt in the 19th century.[3]
