- Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Manila
-
Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital is a private hospital located at 46 P. Sanchez St., Santa Mesa, Manila. It was founded in 1958 by the Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit. Until November 1, 2010, they managed the hospital.[1]
Our Lady of Lourdes has both inpatient and outpatient services. Many of the patient rooms are air conditioned, as are most of the outpatient clinics. The hallways throughout the hospital, however, have no air conditioning. The hospital is a somewhat older building, but it provides most services as do larger hospitals. It serves city residents, as well as a few foreigners who reside in the area.
On October 26, 2010, the Missionary Sisters and Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, through its subsidiary East Manila Hospital Managers Corporation, announced an agreement to put the hospital under new management. On November 1, East Manila was to assume management of the hospital under a twenty-year lease. Under the lease, the new management was committed to spend P350 million (US $8.13 million) over the first five years of the lease to upgrade hospital facilities and equipment. Metro Pacific, chaired by Manuel V. Pangilinan, is owned by Hong Kong's First Pacific Company Limited.[2]
The management change took place November 1, as per the agreement. Pangilinan took over the management after the nuns in the hospital left. The eastern wing of the hospital is currently under renovation.
