History

Our Lady of Liberation was dedicatory after the Second World War by bishop Dubourg, the latter intending to build a monument if Besançon was not devastated by the bombing. Subsequently, the plaques lining the walls of the building who pay homage to diocesans and all inhabitants of Besançon died during World War II were added, and a monumental statue of Marie of seven meters high.
