Oupa Manyisa (born July 30, 1988 in Mohlakeng, Gauteng) is a South African football (soccer) player who plays as a midfielder for Orlando Pirates in the Premier Soccer League.

Oupa Manyisa, hails from Mohlakeng- near randburg a township that produced special talents such as the late Pule “Ace” Ntsoelengoe and Donald “Ace” Khuse, has impressed many people with his football skills. Many youngsters find it difficult to settle down at a top club such as Pirates so quickly, but Manyisa is an exception, as he has already started producing some solid performances for the Mighty Buccaneers. “I was once told that in football, you need to always put your best foot first as you never know who is watching,” said the soft spoken midfielder. “In other words, if you are a player you need to always put in 110 percent effort when given a chance to play because you are only as good as your last game. Manyisa, who started playing soccer at the age of seven for an amateur side Napoli FC. Went to join PJ Stars nine years later (at 16 years-old), where he played with the likes of Reneilwe Letsholonyane (Kaizer Chiefs) and Brian Kgafane (Bidvest Wits). In 2004, Oupa packed his bags and went to Balfour where he joined Africa Sport Academy under the watchful eye of Harold “Jersey-Queen” Legodi. Under his mentor, Manyisa travelled the world and was handed the opportunity to trial with English giants Manchester United, Chelsea, Blackburn Rovers and a stint in France with Strasbourg and Caen. Although Manyisa relish an opportunity to try-out at youth development teams of English premiership clubs Manchester United, Chelsea FC, Blackburn Rovers, as well as time spent at Strasbourg and Caen (both in France), joining the Buccaneers was the biggest thing to happen in his promising football career. Manyisa credits Africa Sport Academy coach Harold “Jazzy-Queen” Legodi, for his rise to fame. After all, it was Legodi, who groomed the midfielder into the player he is today. “I learnt a lot of things at the academy under Jazzy-Queen. He is my mentor, and I still keep communication with him for advice,” he related. “He (Legodi) was impressed with my performance against Arrows and told me to stay focused, work harder and most importantly, to keep my feet on the ground and be patient at all times.” CAREER HISTORY Previous clubs: Africa Sport Academy, PJ Stars, Napoli FC (Amateur) PSL debut: 30 August 2008 (Lamontville Golden Arrows 1-0 Orlando Pirates) HONOURS Club level: 2008/09 Telkom Charity Cup winner National level: Under 23, 20 and 17 international SEASON CLUB APP.
