The loop antenna is a radiating coil of any convenient cross sectional of the one or more turns carrying radio frequencies current.It may be assume any shape that is rectangular, square,triangular,hexagonal and circular on either in ferrite or air core.Loops are extensively used in radio receivers, air craft receivers direction finding and UHF transmitters. A loop of more than one turn is often called as frame.Ordinarily,loop is so designed that its dimensions are small(but not vary small)in comparison to wavelength, in which case the currents are of the same magnitude and phase throughout the loop.Loop antenna of single loop only for convenience and its plane is vertical capable of rotation of about z-axis.
