"One Promise Too Late" is a 1987 single by Reba McEntire. "One Promise Too Late" was written by Dave Loggins, Don Schlitz, and Lisa Silver and was Reba McEntire's eighth number one country single as a solo artist. The single went to number one for one week and spent a total of fourteen weeks on the country chart [1]. It tells the story of a woman who meets a man and falls in love, but is already married and refuses to break her promise to the husband who has never been less than good to her, saying that the man came along "one promise too late."
