One D is a collaborative effort of existing organizations aiming to enact change in the region by creating a centralized community working for the progression of Metro Detroit. OneD.org was launched by One D, Brogan & Partners and Troy-based web development team, Media Genesis, Inc.
[1] One D is a project launched in November 2006 and led by Edsel B. Ford II and several partners, including Detroit Renaissance [2] the Detroit Regional Chamber [3] New Detroit [4] the Detroit Metropolitan Convention & Visitors Bureau [5] United Way for Southeastern Michigan [6] Metropolitan Affairs Coalition [7] Southeast Michigan Council of Governments [8] and the Cultural Alliance of Southeastern Michigan [9].
[10] Over 500 nonprofits and organizations are profiled on the site with contact information. In addition, a share board and forum provide a place for community discussion. Users are also encouraged to post related events in the calendar. Future live guest speakers will also be featured on the site, including:
- Luther Keith, executive director of Arise Detroit, about the nonprofit's citywide work.
- Christopher Webb, co-director of the Engineering Society of Detroit Institute, on lowering the costs of doing business in the state without tax incentives or public funding.
