Arshad Chaudhury Kamboh

Arshad Chaudhury (Arshad Ali Chaudhry) is an international hockey player from Pakistan. He was born on April 10, 1950 in Faislabad (formerly Lyallpur) District of Punjab, Pakistan. He is son of Chaudhry Sadique Salar and the nephew of the world renowned hockey legend of Pakistan, Dr Gulam Rasool Chaudhury.[1][2]

Arshad did his B.A. from Government College Faislabad where he was also the captain of college Hockey team. He did M.A. in History from Punjab University Lahore in 1973. In 1975 he was selected Assistant Manager in PIA. Arshad Chaudhury was selected in the Panjab University Hockey team in 1971 for the Inter-Varsity Hockey Championship held at Karachi.[3] The team won the Inter-Varsity Championship in the following year.[2] Arshad remained an active hockey international player in the Pakistani national team from 1971 through 1976 [4] and played as right half-back. He represented Pakistan in over 33 national and international matches.[2][5] He represented Pakistani Men's hockey team which participated in the 1975 third World Cup Hockey, held at Kualalumpur and won the Silver Medal.[6] In 1976, he participated in the Pakistani Men’s hockey in the 1976 Summer Olympics held at Montreal which won the Bronze Medal.[2][7][8][9] .

Arshad is cousin brother of another internationally renowned Pakistani hockey legend, Chaudhury Akhtar Rasool.[2]

He retired from active hockey after the Montreal Olympics in 1976.

Arshad belongs to Kamboh (Kamboj) tribe of Pakistani Punjab.[2]
