Odumase Krobo[1] is a town in Ghana, capital of the Manya Krobo District in the Eastern Region of Ghana. It lies approximately 50 miles north of Kumasi.
The Basel Mission ran a school here by 1857. The town became Manya Krobo's capital when Emmanuel Mate Kole, who had been born there, was elected paramount chief in 1892.[2]
At the end of September the town hosts the seven-day Nmayem festival.[3]
The town, famous for its glass beadmaking,[4] hosted the First Ghana International Beads Festival in August 2009.[5] In October 2009 a dispute over chieftancy of the town led to exchanges of gunfire.[6]
