Octopus Media Technology is a London based company that provides an Online Video Platform (OVP) for professional use. It was Founded in 2006 by Andrew Eborn who now acts as CEO, with the aim of improving the quality of streaming video, available to commercial companies. While a relatively small company Octopus has accumulated a number of globally recognized clients such as The Independent, Thomas Cook TV, Total Sports Asia, Naver, and G2. Charities Octopus provide hosting and streaming services for include Macmillan Cancer Support and Shine.

History

In March 2008, Octopus signed a deal with Thomas Cook to host, upload, and provide a player for Thomas Cook TV.[1] In July 2009, following a distribution deal between OctopusMT and The Press Association, The Independent launched an online UK video news service provided by octopus[2].

AmberFin and Octopus Media Technology announced in 2009 plans for a new strategic partnership designed to maximize the value of online video and media content.[3]

In January 2010 Octopus expanded into Korea opening up an office and providing services for a number of Korean companies including Naver Korea's biggest search engine.[4]

OctopusMT is an official supplier to England 2018, supporting England’s bid to host the 2018 World Cup.[5]
