The Oaxaca International Independent Film and Video Festival also known as Festival Internacional De Cine Independiente y Video Oaxaca is an eight day film festival held each November in the Mexican city of Oaxaca. In 2011, the festival will be held from the 12th to the 19th of November. The festival is an official cultural event of the long and storied city of Oaxaca de Juarez. The festival is the newest recognized member of the dynamic and energized cinematic community that has emerged within the area over the last decade.

Designed to be a competitive event, the four days provide a platform for both the talents of seasoned filmmakers as well as emerging artists to showcase their work. The festival is equally devoted to expanding the audience for independent film. Quality film submissions of any length are welcome from all genres from anywhere in the world.

In 2010 the festival held over 100 screenings including 27 World Premiers showcasing 30 nations. The award winning films included: La Soga-Best Picture-From the Dominican Republic The Cha Wan Matchup-Best Documentary-From Taiwan The Interview-Best Short-from Germany La Pantera Negra-Best Mexican Film-from Mexico

Each winning film was awarded an Agave created by local International artist Alejandro Santiago.

An integral part of the Oaxaca FilmFest's mission is to contribute to the economic and creative vitality of Oaxaca.
