- Nury Halmammedov

Nury Halmammedow (Turkmen: Nury Halmämmedow) (1940–1983)[1] was a famous Turkmen composer who created numerous musical genres and has been described as one of Turkmenistan's "greatest sons".[2] His legacy has been commemorated with anniversary events wtihin Turkmenistan.[3]
Early childhood and education
He was born on 24 February 1940 in Baherden district of Turkmenistan. Nury had very difficult childhood losing his parents in 1948 earthquake and was raised at the orphanage. Then he entered into Turkmen State Musical School and successfully graduated in 1958. Later he studied at Moscow State P. I. Tchaikovsky Conservatory,[2] graduating in 1963.
He wrote over 40 works for pianoforte. His work was noted for incorporating elements from both Turkmen folk musical heritage and the broader classical tradition.[4]
