A presidential election was held in the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus on 15 April 2000.[1]
The election was won by incumbent president Rauf Denktaş, who got 43.67% in the first round. Normally, this would trigger a run-off with the second-placed opponent, in this case Derviş Eroğlu. However, Eroğlu forfeited the election, and the second round was not held.
