Norigae (hangul: 노리개) is a typical traditional accessory that is hung from women's jeogori goreum (coat strings) or hanbok chima (skirt) and so on.[1]
Norigae can be divided into 4 parts, a ddidon (hangul : 띠돈; hanja: 帶金) (the top ring of a norigae), the paemul (hangul : 패물) (the jewel of the norigae), and the maedeup (hangul : 매듭) (the knot of the norigae), and sul(hangul : 술) (the tassel).[2]
Norigae's function is wishing fortune like living ever-young or being wealth and having lot of sons by its shape as well as fashion accessory. Mostly, the Norigae from parents' home or husband's home passed down to descendants.[2]
Norigae has various shape came from nature or from everyday life. It divided into Samjak(hangul : 삼작; hanja: 三作) and Danjak(hangul : 단작; hanja: 單作), and Samjak divided again into Daesamjak and Sosamjak. Daesamjak and Sosamjak has same form, but each paemul of them are different.[2]
