The Nigerian Federal Ministry of Agriculture is a ministry of the Nigerian government that regulates agricultural research, agriculture and national resources, forestry and veterinary research throughout Nigeria.[1] Abba Sayyadi Ruma was appointed Federal Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources by President Umaru Yar'Adua on 26 July 2007.[2] The ministry was previously headed by Adamu Bello.
The ministry is responsible for various parastatals. It supervises and provides funding for research institutes such as the National Root Crops Research Institute and colleges of agriculture and forestry.
In April 2010 the Ministry of Water Resources became separate from the Ministry of Agriculture.[3]
