Nick Sarazan

Nick Sarazan

Nick Sarazan is a contemporary painter, born in the early 60's, currently based in Stockholm, Sweden. He grew up in the Soviet republic Georgia, moved to Scotland in the 1980's, and received his formal training at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh, graduating with honours in 2000. Sarazan remains a British national.

His main medium is oil and the style of his paintings ranges from impressionism to surrealism. His paintings are cityscapes, portraying the cities he has visited and the lives they hold. French, Moroccan, Italian and Spanish cities are recurring features, but his work includes cities from India, Greece, Sweden and many other countries. He is best known for his multiperspectives,[1] paintings where several perspectives are included in one painting, allowing buildings to twist and turn, making each object multifaceted and deceptive, and the composition tortuous and meandering.

His work has been shown at the Caelum gallery in New York, Kurt Svenssons konsthandel, and Galleri Kicki in Sweden. Recent exhibitions include:

  • Provence and Morocco, 2007
  • Streetlife (Gatuliv), 2009[2]
  • Close To (Nära), 2011[3]
