New Bedford Railroad

New Bedford Railroad

The New Bedford Railroad was a railroad in Massachusetts. It was incorporated in 1873 as a merger between New Bedford and Taunton Railroad, the Taunton Branch Railroad and the Middleborough and Taunton Railroad.

On February 2, 1874 it entered into a fifty year lease agreement with the Boston, Clinton and Fitchburg Railroad to enable that railroad access to the deep water port at New Bedford.

On June 1, 1876 it was consolidated with the Boston, Clinton and Fitchburg Railroad to become the Boston, Clinton, Fitchburg and New Bedford Railroad.[1] The line would later become part of the Old Colony Railroad network.
