NeonSeon is the pen name of American writer and illustrator Seon Ricks born December 6, 1974 from Hyde Park, Chicago.[1]

Ricks created a comic strip called Shouty Mack for the high school paper at Francis W. Parker School (Chicago).[2] Years later she developed the character Shouty into the book series Life of Shouty (www.shouty.com).[3]

Released under the pseudonym NeonSeon,[4] the debut book in the series, Life of Shouty: Good Habits, came out May 2010,[5] and was honored by Mom’s Choice Awards with a Silver Medal for Values & Life Lessons.[6] Good Habits was also selected by the MidWest Book Review for inclusion in the Children's Bookwatch.[7]

The second book Life of Shouty: Food Fitness debuts October 2011.[3]

Ricks attended the John W. Draper Program at New York University Graduate School of Arts and Science[8] and received an MA in Humanities and Social Thought.[9]
