-
Neelakshi Singh is a Chennai born actress. She started her professional career accidentally when on a holiday visit in 1965 to America, she suddenly chanced upon an audition taking place for a television serial. She auditioned and then got selected for the serial Many Stars. She then came back to Chennai and married Dr. Sivajit Singh and has three daughters and five grand children. She has done many South India films and telefilms. She is currently in news for her latest Tamil film Jhansi Ki Rani – The Great Escape produced by an NRI relative which seems to have got into trouble with the local political party over incorrect portrayal of Rani Laxmibai.[1] The film's shooting in Cochin was disrupted and the film has been stalled.
She also runs a silver jewellery manufacturing unit in Sri Lanka and now exports her jewellery to various countries across the world. She is also a writer and has documented her essays in a book printed recently by the name of Neelakshi's Memoirs.
Neelakshi's grand daughter Anita Vinayak is now gearing up for her debut in South movies. Neelakshi Singh was born on 18 April 1949 under the name Neelakshi Nair and became Neelakshi Singh after her marriage to Dr. Sivajit Singh in 1978.
