Nedaphadrimeru

Nedaphadrimeru

Tolkienism or Nedaphadrimeru is a religious theory that uses the gods (or Valar) of Arda. The religious philosophies are mostly substituted for each person, but in whole they follow the struggle of Manwë and the other Vala, against that of the undoings of Melkor(Morgoth) and his 1st lieutenant Sauron. The age old battle of Good versus evil. The main difference between it and other religions is the stories. There are unique stories of creation and evils and golden ages, all claim to have the correct version of history. The Tolkiendil (followers of this religion) believe in the stories of J.R.R.Tolkien as the true stories, how earth (Arda) was made, how man was first born, and of the histories thence forth.

Names and classification

The Valar's names are used in the form presented by Tolkien, but are believed to also represent the gods of various mythos. For example, Ulmo could be identified as the Greek Posiedon or the Roman Neptune or how Aulë is similar to Thor in Norse religion.

On a larger scale (not always accepted) Ilúvatar or Eru could represent the collective whole of the Ainur, and stand for the Christian God, or Islamic Allah. (this being a very Comparative mythology idea). Thus making it difficult to classify Nedaphadrimeru (sometimes called Tolkienism)It is difficult to classify Nedaphadrimeru as Monotheism or Polytheism. (some just say Henotheistic) although it is generally accepted to also be Pantheism.
