NeNe Leakes (born Linnethia Monique Johnson,[1] December 13, 1967)[2] is a socialite and media personality best known for The Real Housewives of Atlanta. She was also a contestant in 2011 on The Celebrity Apprentice 4. She will return for an upcoming fourth season of The Real Housewives of Atlanta.

Career

After appearing on The Real Housewives of Atlanta, Leakes was featured on the eleventh season of Donald Trump's NBC series The Celebrity Apprentice. Leakes walked off the show in the 10th episode. She raised no money for her selected charity, which supports women against domestic abuse.

NeNe is the founder of the Twisted Hearts Foundation, which addresses domestic violence against women.[3] It was a non-profit LLC, but was suspected of money laundering, having been mailed a letter September 17, 2010 stating that it was either dissolved or its certificate was revoked.[4]

In Oct 2011 the contestants of "America's Next Top Model: All Stars" had to emulate Nene in one of their challenges.

Personal life

She was born in Queens, New York, but was raised in Athens, Georgia.

In the third season of Real Housewives, NeNe filed for divorce from Gregg Leakes; they are currently separated.

She left her rental home after being evicted by Winwood Properties on September 24, 2008.[5] It was located in the Stonebrier at Sugarloaf gated community on Sugarloaf Parkway.[6] The magistrate court of Gwinnett County, Georgia reported Gregg owed $6,240 in past due rent, which eventually led to her going into involuntary bankruptcy.[5]
