Navalram

Navalram (Gujarati: નવલરામ) (1836–1888) was a noted author and critic of Gujarati literature. He is considered as the first critic of modern Gujarati literature.

Life

He was born at Surat, in Gujarat. By profession, he was a school teacher.

Contribution

Naval Ram was a critic of distinction besides writing literary essays and book reviews. In 1867 AD. Navalram penned "BHATNU BHOPALU" and "VEERMATI" in 1869 AD.
