The Naul is a tribe mostly native to Rajistan INDIA and Punjab Pakistan. In India and SINDH, NAUL is pronunced as NAWAL which is Hindi synonym. Nawalgarh (Hindi: नवलगढ़) is a town in Jhunjhunu district of Rajasthan state, India. It is part of the Shekhawati region. It is midway between Jhunjhunu and Sikar. It is 30 km from Sikar and 39 km from Jhunjhunu. Nawalgarh is located at 27°51' North, 75°18' East. Nawalgarh is famous for its fresco and havelis and considered as Golden City of Rajasthan. It is also the motherland of some great business families of India. Thakur Nawal Singh Ji Bahadur (Shekhawat) founded Nawalgarh in 1737 AD at the village site of Rohili. Before abolition of Jagirs in Rajasthan. Since Nawalgarh was a backward village,(backward in the sense; having no business opportunities) people migrated to different states and call themselves Marvaries of Rajasthan. They are highly backward Nawalgarh was a tazimi thikana of Bhojraj Ji Ka sept of Shekhawat in Shekhawati. Nawalgarh was encircled by the high Parkota (walls) consisting of four Pols (gates) in different directions, namely Agoona Darwaja, Bawadi Darwaja (in north), Mandi Darwaja and Nansa Darwaja. Each gate has iron doors. Bala Kila Fort is situated in the center of the Thikana, and Fatehgarh Fort is situated outside the Parkota as an Outpost. The market place of the town and layout of the havelis indicate that the original city was well-planned before construction. Nawalgarh was considered to be the most modern towns of Shekhawati. The Rulers of Nawalgarh belong to the Shekhawat sub-clan (Bhojraj Ji Ka September[Naul] )of Kachwaha Dynasty of Jaipur Princely State.
"Naul" was elder son of Raja Dhaan, an Emperor of Bekanair, India. The tribe “Naul” is named after him. They migrated from NAWALGARH and JAISALMIR to Punjab many years ago and most of them are settled in Districts [Kasur, Sahiwal, Okara, Sheikhupura, Nankana Sahib and Jhang also in Bhalwal District Sargodha]. Some more than three hundred settlements alone have been found in the low areas of Chenab in District Jhang where they had been ruling for three hundred years till the era of Feroze Lodhi. Sials used to pay tributes etc through Nouls and finally with the blessings of Lodhi rulers, they dethroned Nauls.
Nauls are unlike generality of people and speak uncouth tongue. In order for curbing their criminal activities, Raja Ranjeet Singh had to establish a police post at Kot Sai Singh Jhang. Basically, being pure Rajputs, they are known warriors and had great influence in the politics of area. Even today they wield a considerable impact over the politics of their respective areas. Malik Akhtar Naul is a politician of national stature in District Kasur. Malik Shahzad Naul whose father Malik Zulfikar Naul remained Chairman of Haveli Lakha, Okara for five times, is president of Pakistan Peoples Party Okara and candidate for Provincial Assembly in the up coming elections.
