The National Financial Educators Council provides financial education services to people from all walks of life, via events held across the United States. The NFEC offers educator certification, curriculum, financial education events, turnkey financial literacy programs and consultation services.
Contents
Founding
The National Youth Financial Educators Council was founded in 2006. At that time their focus was on teens and young adults. In June 2010 the name was changed in order to reflect the full spectrum of financial literacy projects which they offer, to both youths and adults. [1]
Events
The NFEC hosts several financial education events.
Money XLive
Money XLive features celebrities, sport stars, entertainers and financial education experts. [2]
Past celebrities who have participated in this event include actor Wilmer Valderrama, skateboarder Christian Hosoi, football player Seth Joyner, motocross rider Malcolm McCassy, surfer Jessie Billauer, actor Cris Judd, financial education expert Vince Shorb, skateboarder Brian Sumner, Roy Lewis, Olympic skateboarder Jarret Thomas and basketball player John Salley. The National Financial Educators Council partnered with local businesses, Mesa County and School District 51 in Grand Junction, CO for a Money XLive financial education event that a kicked off to their "Money Month" campaign. This campaign had over 150 volunteers who visited classrooms to deliver financial literacy training. [7]
Real Money Experience
The NFEC also hosts the Real Money Experience, in cooperation with Simon Scholars, an organization which provides scholarships to disadvantaged youth. [8]
Other Services
The NFEC offers financial education services for schools including curriculum, [9] educator training and certification [10] [11] and information on financial literacy grants [12].
The NFEC and its financial partners have worked with schools, [13] nonprofit organizations [14] and financial advisors / professionals [15] to deliver financial literacy events and curriculum to these organizations. [16]References
