The Nathan Dean Complex is a recreational park in Rockmart, Polk County, Georgia. It was named after a man originally from Rockmart. He grew up in Rockmart and watched it grow up into a bigger community. Nathan Dean came up with the idea for the playground. So they named the park Nathan Dean Park in honor of Mr. Nathan Dean.
The park has always been cherished by many. The Nathan Dean Complex is Rockmart’s primary park is often used for softball and baseball. This complex also houses a $250,000 state-of-the-art Playground, fully funded and constructed by local citizens and volunteers. Nathan Dean Sports Complex is at mile marker 38.7 on the Silver Comet Trail. The Silver Comet Trail is found along the outer edge of Nathan Dean Sports Complex. The park includes nice restrooms, picnic tables, playgrounds, pavilions, plenty of parking, and sports fields. Nathan Dean Sports Complex is Rockmart's premier park.
This is Rockmart’s only recreational park within the town. The park is often used for various activities and sporting events. The baseball and softball team use the fields that are in the park. Kids often come and play in the playground. Lots of local community people gather here to have local events. They use this site to host the Polk County Relay for Life. People bring their chairs and tables to the complex to set up for events that occur that day. The community helps to keep the park clean and in good condition. They also use it for recreation football games and other events. There is also a track within the park.
Lots of people often come and often walk or jog around it. The park also contains four pavilions. The playground was built by community volunteers who took the time to help give back to a good cause.
