Biography
Hill was born in Berkeley, California, raised in California, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Florida and is the son of two doctors. He moved to New York City in 2001 where he lives today.
Taxidermy
From 2002-2007, Hill created his own homemade animals known as "New Animals" that were hand sewn composites of dead animal parts salvaged from roadkill, taxidermy websites, and Chinatown garbage among other places. One rogue taxidermy work, "New Animal #31" was noted to comprise falcon talons, cardinals wings, opossum ear and snout, armadillo ear, and the heart of a squirrel.[1] From 2007-2008, Hill created a life size replica of a human being hand sewn from thirteen species of animal parts known as the A.D.A.M. Project (A Dead Animal Man).
Performance art
From 2007-2008, Hill performed the Chinatown Garbage Taxidermy Tour where he led groups through New York City Chinatown's fish market garbage after their close at night to collect art supplies for eccentric artists or collectors.[2] In 2009, he began dressing in a blue fish or dolphin mascot costume to offer "Free Bouncy Rides" to New York City subway riders.[3] In the same year, Hill wore the same head with a white tuxedo, and sold and delivered fake crack cocaine (made from crystallized sugar) to customers who requested him by phone to their homes in a project known as the Candy Crack Delivery Service.[4] Again, in 2009, Hill began performing Death Bear. Dressed in a black bear mascot head and black jumpsuit, Death Bear, when summoned by a text message to the client's home, collects objects that are causing them pain and returns them to his "cave" where they are said to disappear.[5]
