Narek Sargsyan (born in 1958, Jermuk, Armenia) is the former chief architect of Yerevan and Armenia. He is known for his controversial works (including Northern Avenue in Yerevan) as well as for his decisions on Yerevan's old parts deconstruction.[1][2][3]

Sargsyan finished the Yerevan Polytechnic Institute. He served as Yerevan's Chief Architect in 1999-2004. In 2011 he left the position of chief architect of Armenia.

Critics

“Northern Avenue” social organization and Armenia’s Helsinki Committee protested Sargsyan's plan of the construction of Northern Avenue in Yerevan.[4] Accrding to Zara Budagyan ("Yerevan" journal), "sadly known" architect Narek Sargsyan is an author of a "number of silly projects".[5]
